Udzungwa Mountains National Park

UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK - (1,900 Sq Km): Udzungwa is the newest park in Tanzania and the hiker's destination. In addition to its mountainous terrain, the park's most striking feature is its natural diverse forests, which hosts a great variety of plants and fauna of which most are indigenous in the area. Over 10 species of primates including the Sanje crested manga bay, Iringa Red Colobus monkey and a wide variety of birdlife make home in the forests of this park.

Other features of Udzungwa are animals like great jumbos, buffaloes, hippos, leopards and crocodiles in the south - western areas of the park. The area is one of the few places in the continent with continuous rain forest and constant climate for over millions of years, giving species chances to evolve.
